In order to be eligible for the Head Start/Early Head Start Program, the following must apply:

  • Head Start - Children must be 3 or 4-years-old on or before September 1st
  • Early Head Start - Pregnant women and children birth - 2-years-old
  • Family income must meet federal poverty guidelines

Children with disabilities, who meet all other requirements, are welcomed to apply.

When applying the following documents are required:

  • Proof of age (example: child's ORIGINAL birth certificate)
  • Proof of ALL household income from the previous year
  • Child's Medicaid card, if eligible
  • Proof of guardianship, if applicable
  • Proof of Broward County residency
  • Photo identification

VPK Eligibility

In order to be eligible for the VPK Program, the following must apply:

  • Children must be 4-years-old on or before September 1st
  • Children must be a resident of the State of Florida

Children with disabilities, who meet the requirements above, are welcomed to apply.

Application Information

When applying for the VPK Program, the following documents are required:

  • Proof of age (example: child's ORIGINAL birth certificate)
  • Proof of Broward County residency
  • Photo identification

There is a 2-step process to apply for any District VPK program:

  1. Parents must obtain a VPK Certificate of Eligibility. In order to do this, a valid email address is required.
    1. Applications for the VPK Certificate of Eligibility are submitted online through the State’s Single Point of Entry (SPE) system: https://vpkcp.floridaearlylearning.com
    2. Proof of residence and proof of age must be uploaded into the SPE system.

A VPK Certificate of Eligibility will be emailed to the applicant.

  1. Parents must bring the VPK Certificate of Eligibility to the participating school.
